Quick Response Codes

How many of you have ever seen a bar code that looks similar to this one?
I'm sure you all have.  They are becoming very popular these days and we're beginning to see them everywhere.  They are called QR Codes which stands for Quick Response.  "QR code or a Quick Response code (as the creator intended it to be decoded at high speeds), is a specific two-dimensional bar-code, readable by dedicated QR bar-code readers and camera phones.  It was created by Toyota’s, Denso-Wave in 1994, the QR code is one of the most popular types of two-dimensional bar-codes.QR codes can be used to display text , to open a URL or to compose an email or SMS. QR codes storing messages and URL are these days very common in newspapers."  http://techbu.com/2011/03/13/what-are-qr-codes

Businesses of all kinds have begun to use QR codes for advertising.  Why?  Because it can turn a printed piece of paper into a multimedia presentation.  Amazing isn't it?  Well guess what?  Education is jumping on board too.  Teachers, media specialists and administrators all over the world are beginning to see how QR codes can be used in school and they are becoming very creative in using them as well.

I thought that you might like to create a couple of QR codes yourself today since it is so easy to do.  Why not create one for your school or a business card for yourself?  I assure you there is nothing much to it and we have the tools to do it with.  And believe it or not they are absolutely FREE.  In fact I'll be introducing you to lots of free Web 2.0 tools and sites during our training today.  I hope you share them with your faculty, staff and students.

Now let's create your first QR code!!!!!
